Goods and/or vehicles entering or leaving the Customs Territory of the Republic of Turkey are subject to certain procedures within the framework of customs rules. In particular, when defining the transactions to which the goods will be subjected, all of these transactions are called “customs clearance”. Essentially, the goods under customs supervision are subject to a “customs-approved treatment or use” specified in the Customs Law. These transactions are; It means placing the goods under a customs procedure, placing them in a free zone, destroying, re-exporting or leaving them at the customs. The definition of customs transactions covers these transactions.

Customs procedures such as exporting, importing, subjecting the goods to internal or external processing regime, temporary importation, transit, and warehousing are transactions that have different procedures from each other.

Customs procedures; Direct representatives (company representatives) acting on behalf of and on behalf of someone else, and indirect representatives, ie customs consultants, who act on their own behalf but on behalf of someone else, can follow up and conclude. Customs brokers provide various services while performing customs clearance procedures.

Representatives are persons residing in the Customs Territory of Turkey, with the exception of persons engaged in transit transportation or making an accidental declaration. Land, sea and airline companies and representatives of shipping companies can only follow up the transit transactions of the goods they transport through direct representation.

Direct representatives may be persons who are legally authorized to represent the company, or they may be employees who have the company’s representation. Customs Brokers, on the other hand, can carry out customs procedures by presenting the power of attorney given to them to the customs administrations.

Customs procedures of the goods subject to postal and express cargo transportation, the amount and value of which are determined according to the law, can be concluded by the postal administration or companies engaged in fast cargo transportation, without submitting a power of attorney, as an indirect representative.

Customs brokerage companies provide customs clearance services. After giving a power of attorney to the customs consultants in order to carry out the customs clearance procedures, the customs consultants act on their own behalf and act in the customs administrations on behalf of the person who gave them the power of attorney.
